Hi, my name is Lisa Moskovitz and I'm a registered dietitian and certified in the state of New York, with a private practice on the upper east side. I specialize in weight management, exercise and sports nutrition. And I'll be talking to you about diets.The South Beach Diet. This happens to be one of my top favourite diets. Why? Because I think not only is it promoting weight loss, but it's also promoting health and longevity, and it's broken down into several different phases. Now the phases are important, because you really do have to learn how your body responds differently to certain types of foods, particularly carbohydrates. For the first few weeks, you're reducing your carbohydrates, but you're adding them quickly back in. Long term, it's moderate carb, high monounsaturated fat, lots of plant based foods, fruit and vegetables, and lean protein. Overall, I think South Beach Diet happens to be a great approach not only for weight loss, but to decrease your risk factors for many heart conditions, diabetes, obesity; all of which are flooding America today.
