What Is a Rook Piercing?
Transcript
My name's Dana Dunn. I've been working in the piercing business going on 6 years now. I do typically about 3,000 to 4,000 a year. I work at Pins and Needles Tattoo. We have a website pinsandneedlesportland.com. Piercing is my life and I'm going to talk to you about body piercing. A Rook piercing is a standard cartilage piercing on the ear, it's actually right above the tragus, um it's this little flap of skin right here and it's typically done with a hoop. Healing time for that is about four to six weeks. Some places do use a bar, but I stress to get it done with a hoop, the healing is just a lot easier it's just a lot more comfortable, you don't have any complications with a hoop as you, with a bar if it's not long enough or if it's too long it's uncomfortable. Again, it's just keeping it clean, it's a very, very simple process, it's an 18 gauge, so it is a small hole, scaring of the rook is really not even there if you do decide to take it out and it's a really, really quick and simple piercing to get done.
