"Hi, I am Patricia Longo and I'm a celebrity make-up artist. I've worked with models from Sports Illustrated, like Brooklyn Decker and Julie Henderson to Alec Baldwin at 30 Rock. All those things that experts do that the average person doesn't know how to do will learn how to do it on these videos.
How To Become A Make-up Artist:
How to become a makeup artist. Well, I started when I was seventeen working for Chanel Cosmetics and I just loved playing with makeup. And I think if it's something that you love doing and it's an art to you, then you would definitely fall into the category of being a makeup artist if that's your dream. So many people get into it thinking ""Oh, I can do it"" but your really have to have a passion for it. You really have to love doing makeup. And not just on anybody, you can't just want to do makeup on a celebrity. I had no clue I would ever do what I'm doing. I worked behind the counter and that's where I started and I think that's a great way to start as a makeup artist and you really get experience with all different kinds of faces of the earth. I mean, every kind of woman comes to your counter, whether it's a seventeen year old girl who wants that bright pink lipstick to my grandma who still wears that Coco Chanel red lip. So, I really do believe if you really want to be a makeup artist that's a great way to start. And also if you go online and you look for production companies looking for makeup artists, although they would want someone with experience, but taking chances and doing videos and maybe jobs that don't pay but those non-paying jobs are where you're going to make your connections. You'll do three, four, five dozen non-paying jobs but there will be someone on that job that has a job that'll pay. And I always tell people to do anything and everything you can to learn, whether it's a production job, behind the counter, there are so many ways to learn how to do makeup. And go to makeup school, there are so many great makeup schools in Manhattan or all over the country actually."
