Hi, Lisa Dunn Anjaroney. I'm one of the founding partners of Nava NYC, a collective of nine yoga and meditation teachers in New York City. Our website is www.navanyc.com. Today, I will be talking to you about meditation.
Meditating with your partner is a great way to connect. Most of the time we're connecting with our words or our actions. But, when you sit and meditate together, you connect on a deeper energetic level. There are several different ways that you can sit with your partner to meditate, but you have to make a deal that it's a commitment that the two of you are going to do together.
So one of you should be responsible for the timer and one of you should be responsible for the opening and the closing of the meditation. Sit side by side, back to back, or knee to knee. Set the timer, and have the person sound the sound of Ohm to start your meditation. As you're sitting there together, focus on the other person. Hear the sound of their breath, feel their presence, connect on a deep energetic level. Send blessings to the other person. Inhale silently, say their name, and exhale, say, "blessings to you." This way you're connecting deeper and deeper as you go through the practice.
When the timer goes off, sound the sound of Ohm and acknowledge each other. You can hold hands, look into each others' eyes, you can give a big hug. Something that acknowledges that you just made the commitment to sit down together and exchange energetically in meditation practice.
