Hi, I'm Dr. Elissa Lunder. I've been practicing dermatology at Dermatology Partners in Wellesley, Massachusetts for the past 10 years. I believe that skin care doesn't have to be complicated. With a few simple steps you can have beautiful skin. You can visit Dermatology Partners on the web at dermatologypartnersinc.com. So today we're gonna talk about skin care. Congratulations, you've decided to do a Botox or filler treatment. You're gonna love it. But there are a few things you can do prior to your appointment to make sure that you have a much smoother recovery. The first thing you wanna do is a week before your treatment, you wanna discontinue any sort of over the counter blood thinner that can make you bruise more frequently after your treatment. So you wanna avoid taking aspirin, aleve, motrin, St. John's Worts. You also wanna stop any sort of supplements containing oil such as vitamin E or fish oil. Two days before your appointment, it's also a really good idea to start taking Arnica. Arnica is a homeopathic supplement that you can find in your health food store. Two days before your appointment you wanna take five pellets and put it under your tongue each night. After your appointment for the next seven days you wanna take the Arnica supplements three times a day. You wanna take five pellets three times a day under your tongue and let them dissolve. The Arnica will help prevent bruising so you will have a speedier recovery. In addition, pineapple is a great way also to reduce inflammation and bruising so a week before your treatment and a week after your treatment, load up on as much pineapple as you can eat.
