My name is Kru Phil Nurse. I run a Muay Thai-style fighting gym in New York City called The Wat. We have some of the world champion fighters that trained at The Wat. Alright so foot work and you need your footwork to be in a good place you need that to move around the ring. Having bad footwork could get you in trouble and you can have great striking skills but if you can't get out of the way of something coming you can get yourself in a lot of trouble If your on an attack you want to be able to do your feet in certain way to make that attack. When your on defense you need full on defense. Person moving sideways you need that lateral movement both ways and thats more so the footwork theres various drills we do on footwork. Some of it we do on the bag, we push the bag and as it swings back you got to move yourself out of the way. Moving yourself out of your way is coming down to your footwork. In a fight you dont know where that fight is going to go. So you do need that footwork to be in place. He comes at me, I move back. He moves back, I move back. Thats just a basic im on the offense hes on the defense, and visa versa and we're both doing the same thing. So now this is me trying to do an offensive move while using footwork and im on the attack at the same time. So theres a little bit of space between us. I'm going to do a kinda of a switch king where i've gotta jump forward and switch my legs. So i've gotta jump and cross my legs and still get them into position to throw the kick at the end of it.Case thats what i'm work on. So from here I jump, i switch my legs and then let the kick go. That's me using footwork and offensive technique.
