My name is Kru Phil Nurse. I run a Muay Thai-style fighting gym in New York City called The Wat. We have some of the world champion fighters that trained at The Wat. If you want to find out more about The Wat, you can contact us at thewat.com. Today we're gonna be talking about the UFC. John Jones, better known as John "Bones" Jones. John Jones is very very tricky. A very tricker fighter. Very unorthodox. His techniques, very streamlined. He's caught a lot of people with ground and pound. They make a mistake, he cashes in on it. He's very, very sharp. He fought Stephen Bonner on UFC 94 which he used a spinning back elbow which a lot of people know him for that. John had caught the leg, he spun into the leg, turned and tried to go straight back to the elbow to Stephen Bonner into the face. Stephen Bonner was definitely shaken by that technique, by that move. I've heard him say in interviews himself that he really didn't expect that to come out how it did and he gave John Jones a lot of props. What makes him the future? He's very unpredictable and he's definitely evolving with the art. If you look back at MMA 10 years ago, 15 years ago it was very plain, simple, jab, cross, take someone down, submit. Now it's very much evolving into a very creative standing kind of fight that goes on when you're standing and on the ground very creative. So at 205 and some of the things he does, it's incredible. John Jones right now, he is the future for UFC and the MMA world today.
