My name is Kru Phil Nurse. I run a Muay Thai-style fighting gym in New York City called The Wat. We have some of the world champion fighters that trained at The Wat. If you want to find out more about The Wat, you can contact us at thewat.com. Today we're gonna be talking about the UFC. What is MMA? MMA is Mixed Martial Arts. Mixed Martial Arts explains itself. It's different accumulation of martial arts to make yourself a whole fighter. In MMA, you use a couple of components - the components being, the initial ones I would say would be stand up with Muay Thai, for the standing portion of the fight. When you get a little bit closer to take the person down to the ground if you want to do that would be the wrestling and then when you get to [??] what you did do. Now those are the three, I'd just say, narrowed down components. Obviously there are others that can be used. You can get in there and use Judo to throw the person. That's another getting close. When you're getting close tight where you could use Greco-Roman, there are other slashes off to it, but the basis I'd say is the Muay Thai for standing, may be you can say boxing.
