Hello, I'm Owen Beane, I work at Chameleon Tattoo in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Chameleonbodyarts.com is the website. Chameleon Tattoo's been here more than 10 years, but ten years as such with tattooing, over the last 14 years I've been doing body piercing here in Cambridge and I'll be talking to you about piercings today. What you need to know about about a cartilage piercing which is also know as a heliux piercing but nobody ever calls it that is don't do it with a gun. The piercing gun is not intended for use with cartilage and all it's going to do is cause major trouble. You will find people here and there they had a turn their way and had good results but that is the exception to the rule and the placement is also pretty wide for a cartilage piercing when we are talking about the rim of the ear. So as high as you are and as low as you are the piercing needs not to be so close to the edge. You know it has to be well routed in the cartilage but it can't be to far as well. The rim of the ear normally has like a little bull shaped and you want to find that like the deepest point of that. You can like do it with a bar bell or a captive B ring just want to make sure that length wise diameter wise it is the right shape and quality.
