Hello, I'm Owen Beane, I work at Chameleon Tattoo in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Chameleonbodyarts.com is the website. Chameleon Tattoo's been here more than 10 years, but ten years as such with tattooing, over the last 14 years I've been doing body piercing here in Cambridge and I'll be talking to you about piercings today. What you need to know about nipple piercings is that it's really not all that different from a lot of other piercings. It's not really in a league of its own. As long as you have the placement right, and the jewelry's correct, it's pretty routine. You don't want the piercing too deep. That's very important. You'll have, you'll have trouble trying to heal it and you can't want it too shallow because it will be able to reject or have the potential to reject. For guys, a nipple piercing, whether you do like a hoop like a catra bead ring or a barbell. It doesn't actually make a big difference because guys don't wear bras. For girls, the barbell is a much better choice. It stays out of the way that a bra works. The idea that a nipple piercing will heighten sensitivity in the area is not true. And also the idea that you could totally lose sensitivity or deaden sensitivity is also not true. You know, a common question about the nipple piercing is, will it affect breast feeding. And it's not, it doesn't affect it. You of course have to remove the jewelry to do breast feeding, but having had your nipple pierced doesn't compromise your ability to do breast feeding.
