Hello, I'm Owen Beane, I work at Chameleon Tattoo in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Chameleonbodyarts.com is the website. Chameleon Tattoo's been here more than 10 years, but ten years as such with tattooing, over the last 14 years I've been doing body piercing here in Cambridge and I'll be talking to you about piercings today. What you need to know about nose piercing is it's actually the nostril that we're piercing. The nose is the whole thing and the nostril is the part that we're dealing with. The placement is really important. You want to pay attention to what I always call the fault line of the nostril so like, the little crease there. You want to make sure the piercing nestles into that little crease there. That's how it's the best like, complimentary for the shape of the nose. Jewelry length is really important and jewelry size. So, whether you're doing it with a nostril screw, which is what the stud is called or a captive bead ring. It's important the jewelry does not constrict the tissue at all because, if soft cartilage, which is what the nostril is, is contracted at all , it'll have a lot of trouble trying to heal. Once again, which side you do is really totally up to you and doesn't have any significance. So, you really want to choose without really over thinking it. And then, yeah, use your best judgment on the placement. You don't want it to feel like it's down near the edge. You don't want it to feel like it's too high. Both the things could complicate the healing. And then, as far as choosing between a stud and a ring, both pieces are totally fine to heal with. Neither is better suited or worse suited so, it's really up to you and what you want to see.
