Every bride wants her wedding to be different. When choosing a venue, make sure that you're not being too different. Some popular wedding sites really know how to run a wedding and make your life much easier. If you're going outside the box, that's great, just make sure all the details are covered. Do you need a tent? If you do, do you have air conditioning or heat or maybe just fans? If you're not having a tent for an outdoor wedding, where is your contingency plan? When choosing a venue that doesn't usually host weddings, even your home, make sure that all the vendors are prepared to deal with it. Can they all load in at the same time? Probably not. You'll have to set lots of schedules and see how far in advance you can start preparing for your wedding day. If you choose a loft venue that has no kitchen check with the caterer; now he has some limitations on his menu. It might be worth it, but make sure you know all of your options going into it. There's nothing wrong with using a venue that does lots of weddings. Make it personal. Have a great first dance and make it a memorable evening on your own. Whether it's just decor or the smiles on your faces, that's what people will remember.
