Risks of Energy & Vitamin Drinks

The problem with vitamin drinks is that they are extremely high in sugar. Some of them have more than 30 grams of sugar per bottle. And this is going to lead to added weight gain, dips in your energy, and added sugar cravings. Therefore, it's going to be much better to replenish with natural electrolytes. So some of these that have the natural electrolytes and potassium are coconut water, watermelon, bananas. And also an energizing nutrition tip: you can add these — kelp, or dulse flakes — to your water because they are naturally high in electrolytes. These are what we call sea vegetables, so they are very high in minerals and will naturally replenish after a workout. There are a lot of energy drinks out there, packed with caffeine. And this can be particularly dangerous for kids, teenagers, and young adults because it's been shown in studies that this can lead to higher risk behavior. Over-consumption of these energy drinks, particularly in young children can lead to more serious disorders such as ADD, heart and kidney problems, as well as impaired bone growth. And that's why, as I've mentioned before, I highly recommend going to natural sources for natural energy such as coconut water, bananas, and watermelon.
