How to Stretch Your Muscles for Female Arm Workout

Learn how to stretch your muscles for a female arm workout from personal trainer Erin Sharoni in this Howcast workout video.

Hey. My name is Erin, and I'm a former U.S. Junior Olympics certified swim coach and personal trainer, and fitness is my passion, so I cannot wait to share it with you guys.

All right. So one thing you want to never forget to do is to stretch your muscles. Women are afraid of bulking up. Well, you can't really, because you don't have that much testosterone, but what will make you look bulky is if you lift weights and don't stretch. Not only is it bad for your joints, it doesn't... You know, you want the muscle to elongate and have that nice long, lean look.

So, after your bicep workout, a couple of nice stretches. Arm out. Pull your fingers back gently, like so. I'm sure you guys have all seen this one. Pretty simple. Switch hands. You want to hold each stretch for about 30 seconds. You can get a little egg timer, or something, if that helps.

Another nice stretch is to take your hands behind your back. Interlace your fingers, like so, and just stretch over. You should feel a nice stretch in the bicep. If that's too difficult for you, you can just grab one wrist behind your back and stretch. Grab the other wrist and stretch. Depends on your flexibility. Most women can get their hands behind their back, like that. Should feel a nice opening in the chest and a nice stretch down along the bicep.
