What Is the Nutritional Supplement Acai?

"So what you need to know about acai from Brazil, the juice or the pulp or what have you, first of all it's a very, very powerful anti-oxidant. They rank anti-oxidants on a score from the ORAC scale, ORAC is oxygen radical absorption capacity, just basically how much free radicals they can absorb and acai is one of highest. So it's a tremendous anti-oxidant, I liked it so much I put it in E3 anti-oxidant product.

But the issue I do have with acai is some of the people who are trying to market it will tout it for weight loss and I don't see how it can help you with weight loss. They say that because then they can get you to spend more money on the product. Because if you think it's going to help you lose weight you'll buy it.

The thing is anti-oxidants may help you prevent certain forms of cancer from occurring in your body. Because if you have free radicals in the body, they damage the cells and that damage can lead to cancer. So the point is, if you have a anti-oxidant, high in the ORAC scale, absorbing a lot of free radicals, yes it may help you prevent certain forms of cancer. You just have to be careful how you word it and how you tout it to people. So in essence, is it a great anti-oxidant? Absolutely. Is it for weight loss? I don't think so, I would never recommend it for that but other than that, pretty good.
