The worst mistake that people make in a phone interview is to work themselves into a tizzy, sitting down, thinking about the interview, getting all nervous. You need to exude energy, and the way to do that is by standing up. Before the interview, I want you to walk around. I want you to have a conversation with a friend or a family member just before you actually have to get on this call, so that your energy is really intensified, so that they can feel how passionate you are about the job over the telephone line. You need to communicate that energy, and I promise you, if you're sitting down, if you've been thinking about and worried about this interview for hours before you pick up the phone and make the call, you're going to flub the interview. So the best thing to do in conducting a phone interview, is to stand up and be energized.
