"About the Expert: Nicole Williams

My name is Nicole Williams and I am a career expert. I'm the spokesperson for LinkedIn. I'm the author of three best-selling career books, the latest of which has been optioned into a feature film. I grew up with a mom who hated her job. She worked in a paint factory and essentially, it sucked the life out of her and from a very young age, I knew that I wanted to work in the space of career. Not only did I not want to live my mom's life and hate her job, I wanted to help people love their jobs. I realized really early that work is such a critical part of our whole lives and essentially by the time I was 10 years old, I became a one woman career investigative team. So I started to build this career out of practice, out of real life. I was looking for the book, you know the smart girl's book to career success and all I could find were these really strictly tactical kinds of books, nothing about the soft skills, you know that's required to really build success. I was looking for that book so I decided that I would develop my career, building the strategies that ultimately would become my business and ultimately become the foundation of my books. I figured if I hadn't tried it first, you know it wouldn't be legitimate, and I started to figure out what would work based on what really did work. You know, how did it really happen for and what could I take out of my experience and how did I make that make sense for other people. I love career and I know how important it is and here's some helpful tricks to help you get the most out of your career."
