"Let's start with the basics, what is basic training? The goal of basic training is turn you from a civilian into a member of the most powerful, well respected military in the world.
Sounds like a big job to do in just a few weeks, but it will potentially be the most difficult, and most rewarding experience of your whole life. Your going to learn the fundamental skills it takes to be in the military. And everyday your brain and body will be challenged, and every minute of your day is going to be planned before you even arrive. Your going to make life long friends, and possibly life long enemies, but your going to gain memories you won't ever forget. And at graduation your going to be a different person.
Ask anyone who has been in the military before, and their going to tell you stories of remarkable detail. From when the drill sergeants were yelling at them to friends that they made and still keep in touch with to this day.
At basic training drill sergeants are responsible for your training. And drill sergeants are trained to maintain an intimidating demeanor, and corrective action for the use of verbal intimidation. Disciplinary tactics will be given to you via vocal reprimands, in the form known as cape. Corrective action through physical exercise. Also known as getting smoked. And your going to get smoked, and you will get smoked over and over again. That is basically just doing physical exercise to exhaust you. Just know to expect it. In all seriousness your going to get smoked if the sun is shining too bright, so don't take anything your drill sergeant tells you to personally. For the first time your going to have to ask permission to go to the bathroom, to sit down and eat, to get up from eat after your done eating.
So the good news is tens of thousands of people have graduated basic training every year, and it's not impossible. Simply prepare, and know what to expect, live day by day, moment through moment. And soon enough you'll be a member of the U.S. military.
