Cool Sleepover Activities for Middle Schoolers

Learn some cool sleepover activities from expert Alexis in this Howcast video.

When I was in middle school, one of my absolute favorite things to do was have friends over for a sleepover, or go to my friends house to stay there. Here’s some fun activities that you guys can do to make your sleepovers the best ever.

I know it sounds super stereotypical, but bake some cookies. I know it sounds like every stereotypical thing that girls have ever done at a sleep over, but it’s so fun. Not only do you get to bake cookies, but you can decorate them, too.

Make a time capsule. If each of your friends brings something that means something to them, or maybe have everyone bring something that means something to you guys as a group. You can bury it in the backyard and wait ten, 15, 20, however many years you want until you dig it up and relive all those memories again. You will be so happy you did it ten years or 15 or 20 years later when you dig it up.

Another idea, why not go retro? I know board games may sound a little bit in the past, but they’re so fun, and you can pick something like Taboo or Apples to Apples that can involve a lot of people and can take as long or as short as you want.

What’s really important to remember when you’re having a sleep over is that it’s not so much about the things you did or how long you played Taboo for or how delicious or not delicious the cookies were, it’s about the memories you’re making with your friends. Some of my best memories come from sleepovers that I had or sleepovers my friends had where we didn’t have any activities planned out at all. It wasn’t all lined up for us okay, we’re going to do this and then we’re going to this and then we’re going to have a lot of fun and do this. My friends just came over and spent the night and we gossiped, we talked about school, anything that was going on and some of those memories were some of the best ones I’ve ever had.
