Here are some tips for walking stairs in high heels. As you walk up the step, focus on placing the weight on the ball of the foot. This means that the back of the heel is actually going to hang off of the step. As you walk down the stairs, this is even more important for foot placement. Place the entire shoe flat on the step as you walk down. This will ensure that you do not hook that heel and injure yourself. If there is a handrail, I recommend always holding on for increased safety. I do not recommend stepping down the stairs sideways as it is not graceful and it's unnecessary if you ensure proper foot placement.
