Now, I'm going to show you the difference between an American manicure, and what's been called the Brazilian manicure.
The difference is the color that you apply over the white tip. American manicures use a soft pink, maybe like a really neutral, translucent brown color. Cafe color, maybe? That just adds a little bit of color to the nail, for the French.
For the Brazilian French, you use a soft translucent white, which gives like a milky white finish, but an opaque, white free edge. Once you've applied the white onto the free edge, and it's dried, you can go in and apply the colors. I'll do the Brazilian first. See? It looks really pretty. It just adds a hint of white over the nail bed, but it still leaves the white, opaque free edge.
So now you'll see the difference with the pink. It's nice and translucent, and what I will do is soften it and add a hint of pink to the nail bed, and the white free edge. Remember not to use too much, because you don't want to make it look cloudy. Once the nails have dried, you apply top coat to seal the finish and make the French manicure look complete and glossy. And there you have it, the American manicure and the Brazilian French manicure.
