Self awareness is really exactly what it sounds like. It is the awareness of yourself, your internal world that's made up of your thoughts and your feelings and your external world which is made up of your choices and the consequences of those choices. Somebody who is self aware understands their thought process and they understands their emotional reactions. If you're someone who is looking to increase your self awareness, as your coach, I would encourage you to start with your action and then work your way backwards. So what action did you take and then start to process it by asking yourself what motivated that action or how did you feel when you were taking that action. By understanding the process that went into your actions, you will become more self aware. I think the greatest obstacle to self awareness is a fear of looking at ourselves and there's you know, a wonderful quote that says it's not our darkness that we're most afraid of, it's our light. And so being on a journey of self awareness requires you to embrace your light and share your light and shine your light but it also asks you to embrace your darkness, to understand it and to befriend it so that you could make better choices as a result.
