What Makes a Blueberry a Superfood?

Learn what makes blueberries a superfood from nutrition coach Lisa Neilsen in this Howcast video.

Blueberries are often called a super, super food, because they’re loaded with antioxidants and they also enhance the functioning of your brain, and they’re called brain foods. The way they do that is they actually help your brains neurons communicate more effectively. So they’ll help with your alertness and your memory. In addition, blueberries help prevent Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. With blueberries, you can incorporate fresh blueberries into your diet or you can also buy frozen, if you can’t get them fresh year around. The way to get the most out of the benefits of blueberries is to incorporate half a cup per day into your diet. So one of the things I like to do is, combine two super foods together. So when I want to upgrade my breakfast I start with Keen One, I add the blueberries into my Keen One. Not only do I get the endurance from the Keen One, I’ll be getting the memory and the alertness from the blueberries. So, go ahead and create your own power breakfast today.
