How to Go Cold Turkey

Quitting smoking cold turkey. I know very few people who've been able to do that. My definition of quitting smoking cold turkey means, deciding to quit smoking, throwing out the cigarettes and never looking back, and never having another urge to smoke. In my opinion, when I meet those people, and they tell me that they've done that, I realize that they were not addicted to nicotine. I don't care if they smoked four packs a day. If they were able to stop, never look back, they were not addicted. Most people I know, most people that come into my groups, and most people who talk to me about quitting smoking have tried cold turkey. Again, and again, and again. If that's you, that's OK. It's really a very powerful addiction, it is not a bad habit. And you need a lot of help with it and a lot of support, so there are many things that you can do to help you not only quit smoking, but stay quit. So once again, quitting cold turkey, if it doesn't work for you, don't be discouraged. There's many many options out there, and I encourage you to try them all until you are actually able to quit for good.
