Understand Epilepsy w/ Steve Wolf MD & Patty McGoldrick NP

Learn about Steve Wolf, MD, and Patty McGoldrick, NP, MPA, two of Howcast's epilepsy and seizure experts, in this video.

Patty McGoldrick: Hi, I'm Patty McGoldrick. I'm nurse practitioner, specializing in epilepsy in pediatrics at Beth Israel in New York City, and the Co-director of the Developmental Disability Center at Roosevelt, and my partner, Steve Wolf, and I manage the programs together at Beth Israel and St. Luke's Roosevelt.

Steve Wolf: And hi, I'm Steve Wolf. I'm the pediatric neurologist. I am the Director of Pediatric Epilepsy at St. Luke's Roosevelt and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, as well as the Director of Developmental Disability Center at St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital.

Patty: We've been working together for 12 years and running our practice together. We have a private practice. We run a big epilepsy monitoring unit at Beth Israel. We do a lot of epilepsy surgeries in conjunction with our partners.

Steve: We focus on children with very difficult to control seizures. We evaluate them from beginning to end to sort of look on what possibilities we can do to treat their seizures, whether it be new medications or possibly even surgery. We work with a team of people to, sort of, look at all aspects, including the academic issues as well.

Patty: We're hoping that what you people who are watching these videos will take from them is the ability to go back and ask your neurologist and your epileptologist questions about your seizures or your child's seizures and to develop a better knowledge about what treatment options exist for them.

Steve: So listen to our videos, write down some questions, and go back and talk to your doctors and I hope this helps you.
