How to Maintain a Lace Front Wig

Learn how to maintain a lace front wig from celebrity hairstylist Ellin LaVar in this Howcast black hair tutorial.

Today we are going to speak about maintaining your lace front. The most important thing with the lace front is to not get oil on the lace, because if you get oil on your lace, it will make the glue disintegrate, so therefore it will get loose. Also, perspiring a lot makes it disintegrate also. So, that's why you see sometimes the lace is coming up.

Now, depending on how much you spend on your lace front, the care is different. The cheaper the lace, the harder the lace, the stronger the lace. The more expensive the lace, the softer and finer the lace, the more delicate the lace. So, that means that when you are removing your lace front, you want to take extra care if you spent a lot of money on your lace and it's very, very fine. The finer the lace, the easier it is to blend into your skin. If you do do that, when it's time to wash your lace front, you have to put it on a wig block, and you have to use special pins that are made for lace.

They are very fine, and you stick them in the lace so they don't cause holes in the lace. Because once you rip the lace, if you have a full lace wig, you can cause the whole wig to fall apart. So, you want to be extra, extra careful when you are maintaining your lace.
