Hi guys, this is Max Tapper for Hal Cast and what I'm going to do today is show you how to do a Deficit Dead Lift. Now you may not have heard that term, but Deficit Dead Lift is also just called a platform dead lift, where you standing on a platform and doing your dead lift. So for the sake of this demonstration we're gonna use some yoga blocks. Okay, now the principle is still the same between a regular dead lift and a platform dead lift. Where you're pitching at the hips, bending at the knees, and lowering that weight down slowly and controlled. Okay, now in all reality I do not see the need to do a platform dead lift. Most of the people that are going to be doing a dead lift do not have the flexibility in their back to need that added depth. Really, come on guys. So I'm just gonna show you guys how to do it. I don't recommend it, but if you want to know how to do it, this is how you do it. Okay, so we're gonna stand up here. I'm gonna lean forward and grab that weight. And even at that position alone I feel like I'm hyper-extending my lower back, or hyper-stretching my lower back and my hamstrings at the same time. So as I come down, grab a hold of that weight, chest up, shoulders back, slowly lowering that weight down. And up, slow on the way down, and up. There you go. Enjoy and be safe guys.
