Hi guys. This is Max Tapper again, for Howcast, and what I'm going to show you guys to do today is the basic cat stretch. Now a lot of you guys have done this in yoga class, but for all of those other guys that haven't done it, I'm going to show you an awesome way to stretch your lower back muscle and also work on stability in your core.
This is the position. It's called a cat stretch because you're basically mimicking what a cat would normally do when it is stretching. Okay. So follow me. First we start by having our knees down, hands down, right under our shoulders. So at the beginning we allow our lower abdominals to drop down. Allow your stomach to drop down and release your abdominals a little bit. And you're just going to pull in and up.
Now we're going to hold that position for about 10 seconds. Okay. And our goal is to do this 10 times with 10 seconds holds. Allow yourself to drop down, pull deeply in. Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. Drop down. And into it again. Pull in. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, release.
That is the cat stretch. Now guys, remember, you can do this anywhere. You could do this any time. This is also going to be something that's extremely good for loosening those muscles in the core and also releasing a lot of tension that you have in your lower back. So by all means guys, stretch as much as possible. Do it every day. Numerous times a day. It can't hurt you. It can only benefit you.
