How to Do an Inclined Press-Up at the Gym

Learn how to do an inclined press-up from certified personal trainer Max Tapper in this Howcast gym workout video.

Hi guys. This is Max Tapper again for Howcast. And what I’m going to show you guys how to do today is the incline press up. Yes, incline press up. Basically the same thing as the incline push up but some call it different things. I’m going to show you how to do it. All right.

This is what it is. Basically, like a basic push up but you’re going to use a bench to put your body on an incline. All right. This is what it’s going to look like. Chest up. Angle down. Up. Up. Now, what this is very useful for is for building the upper pec and shoulder. All right. Excellent exercise to mix in as a secondary exercise behind like say a chest press or a dumbbell press. This is an awesome exercise to add in.

So one of the good reasons to do an incline push up is, if you don’t have enough strength at this moment yet to do a regular flat push up. What this does, it takes away a certain amount of your body weight so you’re only lifting a certain percentage of it. And it makes it a little bit easier.

So for people that are looking in to building chest strength and working up to doing a normal push up, this is an awesome transition to it. So remember, an incline press is awesome for you. Helps you build up your strength. Go out there. Do it. Have a good time. And again, stay safe.
