5 Contouring Tips for Asians

Learn five contouring tips from celebrity makeup artist Raychel Wade in this Howcast Asian makeup tutorial.

If you want to contour your face, the most important thing is to know where to contour. First of all, you want to start with a powder or a cream that has no shimmer in it.

So what I like to do is contour from the base of the hairline right down under the cheekbone, right along the jaw line, and maybe a little bit on the eye, blending up into the hairline, a tiny bit around the forehead, and then blend it out with a sponge brush.

In order to make that contouring stand out, you want to highlight as well, so taking a shimmer highlighter or a flat highlighter. It can even be a really light foundation. you want to go in the opposite areas, so you want to create a little highlight under the eyes, like this, maybe down the bridge of the nose, and right here underneath the stripe of contour that you just put in.

Another thing you can do if you're Asian, and you feel like your nose is maybe flatter than you'd like it to be, is take a little bit of that contour with a little bit of an eyeshadow brush, and run in right down the bridge of your nose, and then blend out. This is a nice way to create light and dimension on your face, without it looking too false.
