Hi. My name's Alexander Barouh. I'm a bike racer in New York City. I work for Ride Brooklyn bike shop out of Park Slope, Brooklyn. I'm a category three road racer, a category three track racer as well as a category 3 cyclocross racer. I've worked as a bike messenger in New York for two years and I've been working at Ride Brooklyn for the past three. Currently I'm their brand and marketing manager. I've been racing competitively for about five years now. I race mostly in New York and New England, but I've also raced overseas in Italy on a number of occasions. What I enjoy most about competitive cycling is that there's a lot of strategy involved. It's not just the strongest person who wins all the time. It's a bit more cerebral and it's definitely a thinking man's sport. Over the course of working as a bike messenger and working at Ride Brooklyn, as well as racing my bike, I've come to learn a lot about bike racing as well as bike fit and bike maintenance. And now I'm going to share with you a couple tips to help you become a competitive cyclist.
