How to Short Serve in Badminton

Another variation of the serve is your short serve. Compared to the long serve, the short serve is actually a much softer shot in which the player serves diagonally to the opponent, the shuttle just clears the net and it falls directly behind the opponent's service line. We're going to have Shabing demonstrate the short serve.

Right now, what Shabing is doing is the short serve on the forehand side. Now, he's going to demonstrate the short serve on the backhand side, which is used for both doubles and singles. You will notice that great care has to be taken in ensure that the shuttle does not go too high above the net, or else the opponent could smash the shuttle downward.

That's your classic short serve.
