So, patients often complain that their pimples really hurt. And the reason that is, is when you have a very deep pimple, or what we might call an acne cyst, it's arising so deep in the skin that it's actually in contact with nerves that transmit pain. So, what happens is you have a very deep cyst. It causes inflammation and the nerve fiber is right there and sending pain signals to your brain. So, basically when you're having pain and acne, it means that the pimple is starting very, very deep. And don't try to pop it because it won't work. So, when you have a very deep pimple that's causing pain, the best thing to do is develop a relationship with a dermatologist, so that person can fit you in that same day and inject it with cortisone. What cortisone is, is an anti-inflammatory that we inject directly into the pimple that helps it come down, usually within 24 hours.
