There are many ways to get rid of acne scars.
I think one of the best is using one of the new fractional oblated lasers. Examples of these are Fraxel, a firm ultrapulse. Basically they smooth away the top layers of the skin, thus getting rid of the scars in the process.
Another very interesting way to get rid of acne scars, especially the rolling acne scars, which are shallow and wide, is a process called subcision. Subcision is a treatment where by a dermatologist puts a needle in the scar and tries to break up the fibrous bands that are helping cause that scar. It sounds really awful but it's actually not too painful and it can be very helpful.
The third way to get rid of acne scars and this is particularly good I think for pock marks or ice pick scars is fillers and basically we use things like Juvederm or Radiesse to actually fill the scars so that there's not a defect there anymore. I think this is one of the areas, treating scars, that has come the longest and hardest in dermatology.
