So, to get started with Pilates Mat class, you need a mat, basically. And Sarah's got one right here. A Pilates mat is a little bit different than a yoga mat. A Pilates mat is, if you can see here, it's a little bit thicker. There's a lot of articulation, which you'll see in Pilates, a lot of rolling up and down on the mat. And you want to protect your spine. You want to protect your tailbone. You want to protect your head, so we use a little bit of a cushier mat. If you go to a Pilates studio or to a studio that teaches Pilates, they may have something called a tower mat. You'll see that later on. It's a mat that is cushioned and it's raised a little bit higher up off of the floor. The tower mat is to be used with the tower apparatus. That's a whole 'nother thing. So, all you need to know for right now is get yourself a Pilates mat. Which is a little bit thicker. You've got your body and you'll be ready to go.
