Patients often ask how do I stop my hair shedding? Well, again it depends on what the cause of the shedding is. If it's male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness you're gonna need to do something and the earlier you intervene the better the chance of the results your gonna get. For example, if you have shedding we wanna try to use topical medication such Minoxidil or Rogaine. Or oral medication if you're a male, such as Propecia and at the very least if we can stop the progressive nature of hair loss, that continual shedding, we'll be in good shape. One of the other things that you can do in addition to the medical therapy is to use laser therapy or so-called light therapy. This low-level light therapy helps to prevent shedding, to stop and potentially even reverse that shedding so you get thicker and fuller hair. It's also important to avoid any of the causes such as not eating a proper diet, not drinking enough water, having green leafy vegetables etcetera. Those things are important as well as trying to avoid things that can cause problems such as crash diets and again some things that may be out of your control -- medications that you're on or having general anesthesia. But it's important to understand that there are many things that cause shedding and you have to get to the root of the problem to fix it.
