If you want to improve your form there are a couple of drills that you can do in order to do that. One of them is what we call a bounding drill.
So what I'm doing with this bounding drill is I'm actually exaggerating bouncing off the ball of my foot. And what this does, it's an explosive push off of the ball and I'm using my arms to get up into the air. So I'm using my arms to get up and in order to get that explosive push off I'm using all the major muscle groups in my leg. I'm using my calves. I'm using my gluts, my quads and my hamstrings. So once again, bouncing off the ball of my foot I'm just using an explosive push off.
Another one that you can do to help your form is almost like a high kick. So you're bringing your knee up so that your quad is parallel to the ground and you're bringing your heel right to your butt and you're going to do that really quickly like this. So again you're going to use your arms to get yourself up. You're going to get your knees up. You're going to get your heels right up to your butt. So with your follow through that's going to help you when you're leaning forward. It's going to help you get your knees up. It's going to help you get your heel up and behind you and keep you moving forward.
So these are great techniques to help you improve your running form.
