How to Do the Monks Punching Drill in Shaolin Kung Fu
Transcript
Hi, I'm Sifu Romain, teaching you the monk's punching drill. The monk's punching drill is an exercise the Shaolin monks would perform every morning as part of their warm-up routine. Let's get started.
So from your attention stance, you're going to step out to horse stance, raising the hands overhead and bringing it down into a praying hands position. Go. That's it. Inhale.
Now exhaling out, pushing one palm out. Punching in crane stance. Go. Stepping down to slap fist, punch the other side. Go. And step down to horse stance. Punch. Punch. Okay.
And let's try it again from the beginning. Attention. Ready, and one, two, three, four, five. Go. Now we're going to try it increasing the intensity. Ready, and begin. Go. And go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Close, and attention.
I am Sifu Romain, and that was the Shaolin monks' punching drill.
