Hi. I'm Sifu Romain. Teaching you the empty stance. In Chinese we call this Shibui. From here his hands are gonna go to the waist. Supporting foot is gonna turn out forty five degree angle. Now from here he's gonna step with his foot so that he has two fist distance between the knees both knees bent. I want the heel on the front foot raised up, toes slightly in, so he's pointed and he's just got maybe one percent of his weight on that foot. Sometimes they call this a cat stance in some styles. Now, from here, this is a great position for self defense because it allows you to move back without changing the range. So if somebody were approaching you by coming forward as they attack you can lift your knee and execute a kick right from that position. I am Sifu Karl Romain and this is how you do an empty stance.
