How to Do the Turn Chop from Self-Defense Long Fist Form

Learn how to do the turn chop, as part of self-defense from long fist form, from Sifu Karl Romain in this Shaolin kung fu Howcast video.

Now we are gonna demonstrate turn chop from our long fist one form. In this self defense technique, Mr Ramsu will be facing away. The attacker will be grabbing the shoulder and pulling him back. He is gonna raise his hand and as he steps he is gonna step across his body, placing his foot down to have a good centre of gravity, blocking at the elbow. Now he is gonna raise his hand, turn and chop, right to the back of the neck. Notice how he keeps this hand up for safety, just in case. And now he's adjusted into a complete forward stance. One more time slowly. He's gonna grab. He raises the hand like he is saying hello. Step across. This is important; because when he turns, he needs to have a good centre of gravity, so he has balance. Block at the elbow, turn chop. And now he has balance going either way. This will give him strength and power. Okay, now he's gonna do it full speed. Grab, pull. This concludes our video of turn chop from long fist one form.
