I wanted to talk a little bit about how to deal with curly hair. It's such a broad topic, but it's a question that most of us find ourselves asking. There are certain things that you can do to achieve a smoother silkier look.
The first thing to keep in mind when you have curly hair is getting really regular haircuts, and keeping it super, super conditioned. That means getting your hair cut every six or eight weeks, and conditioning it probably at least once a week normally. The reason that I say that is, curly hair tends to be the most fragile, and the driest hair type.
What you wanna do, is you wanna keep the ends nice and crisp, and keep it super moisturized. The more moisturized your hair is, and the cleaner the ends are, the more body and life your hair will have, and the more truer your curls will be.
Another thing that we struggle with, with curly hair is frizz. Frizz is the number one question I get. There's always going to be a little bit of frizz with curly hair, so the sooner that you can accept that it's never gonna be perfect, the happier you can be.
I embrace it, because if my hairs a little frizzy I don't have to freak out about it, whereas somebody with straighter hair might have to be really concerned about that.
A couple of things to deal with frizz would be a smoothing product afterwards. We get concerned, and we think only about the product that you put in your hair to make it curly. We never really focus so much on the polishing afterwards. Both parts of that are really important. You want to start with the right product for your hair. Then you want to finish with the right product for your hair.
Dealing with curly hair, it's really important to get the right shape haircut also. What I would recommend would definitely be some long layers in there. Create a beautiful silhouette that you like, so if you feel like your hair has got the silhouette of a triangle. Be sure and express that to whoever is cutting your hair, so that you can find a better silhouette for yourself.
The sooner that you can embrace your curly hair the more freeing it is. It's such a great unique factor about you, so embrace your curls.
