So I sometimes sit down with parents and we discuss the child and the diagnosis of autistic disorder. Parents sometime ask the question about the relationship between autism and childhood vaccinations. We do recognize is that some other vaccinations do include mercury or have in the past years. But there has been a good deal of recent research that lets us know that it is not mercury and it is not childhood vaccinations that is the cause of autism in children. That is a very strong misconception that a lot of people still hold. I am speaking with many Pediatricians and research done by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We do realize is that the benefits of childhood vaccinations do protect your child and they fall out way not vaccinating your child in fear of autism. So I let all my parents now that vaccination do not cause autism.
