Your relationship with your client is really important and the best way to build a trusting relationship is to be honest. I think honesty is key, especially when you're doing a PR campaign and you want your client to trust you and trust in your ability to deliver what you promised them before they became your client.
You need to be on the same page. It's a phone call everyday, just kind of updating them, talking to them about what's going on in their campaign, maybe not every day, every other day, but you need to be in constant contact with them. It's important to let them know what you're working on. Status reports and those types of things are important. They need to know that you're working for them.
So, one of my big things is really communicating with the client the process of PR and the campaign that we've designed for them. I think, again, it's just having a great client relationship boils down to trust and honesty, and thinking creatively and letting them know that you have their back and that you are their cheerleader, and that you are fighting for them, and that you guys have the same goals.
So that's how to have an effective, positive client relationship.
