Tiba: My name is Tiba Vieira. I am a Capoeira professor in New York of Capoeira. With me I have Master Jelon, my Capoeira master, and he is the founder of Capoeira Luanda. I'm going to have him explain, you know, tell you guys a little bit about Capoeira Luanda and a little bit about his history teaching and as a Capoeira teacher.
Jelon:Yes, hi, my name is Jelon Vieira, and my title in Capoeira is Master and the tenure of Capoeira in the U.S. I've been teaching Capoeira in New York for the past 36 years and I founded Capoeira Luanda among my students.
The objective of forming Capoeira Luanda with my students was to promote Capoeira, to preserve, and to form new leaders so they can continue what I started. Nowadays you can find Capoeira Luanda, of course, here in New York City, San Francisco, California, Houston, Texas, Miami, Florida, Baltimore, Maryland. To be part of Capoeira Luanda is a privilege. It means you are part of a health environment.
We have classes in New York, we have many teachers here who represent Capoeira Luanda. Capoeira, to us, is a lifestyle. It's something that we love to do, but we also, you know, love to share this beautiful art form with others. So, for those of you interested in learning a little more about Capoeira, or about the work we do, you know, you can check us out online.
Capoeira, for me, has always been about passion. Capoeira taught 4me a tremendous respect for life. Through Capoeira I learned discipline, self-esteem, and Capoeira strengthened my mind. I use it in everyday life. Through Capoeira, I have made friends throughout the world and live a healthy life.
Tiba: Now it's time for us to get stated with training, so, let's do it.
