How to Do a Turn in Irish Step Dancing
Transcript
How to do a turn in Irish Step Dancing. To prepare for the turn the dancer points the right foot. The turn involves four steps. The first is a step to the side followed by a second step to the side, a step to the back which rotates the dancer's position, back to facing front and a final step in front. Four steps we'll try that on the left. Pointing the left foot taking the first step to the side, right leg then rotates to the side, left leg comes back behind, and right leg places itself in front as the fourth step.
We'll try that four part turn in real time. To the right and side, side, back, front. To the left and side, side, back, front. Here the dancer is initiating the turn with a cut. Again the left, cut. Turns can also be done with four steps ending behind. We'll show this slowly. Side, side, back, back for the position of that last step. To the left and side, side, back, back. Trying the four part turn ending behind in real time initiating with a cut. And cut, side, side, back, back. To the left and cut, side, side, back, back. How to do the turn in Irish Dance.
