I'm going to show you how to do a standard French braid. We're going to start this look by taking a small, triangular section here in the front. We're going to split that, coming up from underneath into three separate sections. Taking the outside pieces and twisting them into the center.
We're going to start picking up hair from the outside and adding them to the braid. I find that by keeping my hands nice and flat to the scalp, it helps keep the braid nice and flat. You want to avoid your hands coming up here and just keep them nice and tight. You always want to make sure that the sections that you're taking are equal to each other. You want to just make sure to keep each section nice and clean.
By twisting each outside braid in, you're going to get that inside braid look. Twisting from the outside, in. Outside inwards, you want to take this as far down as you can. Tying off with elastic. My favorite trick is to take the hair from the back, twist it around the elastic and finish off tying. Just so that it's a nice, clean look by covering the elastic. There you have your standard French braid.
