HI. I'm Jennifer Durbin, and I want to help you prepare for your trip by giving you a list of things to ask the airline before you fly with your little one.

So you put a lot of time and effort into getting the right travel gear, packing everything your little one will need; but have you thought about the things that you need to ask the airline before you go?

So for instance, you'll want to check and see if there are any checked bag fees for things like your Pack 'n Play or other things that you want to check. Also check to see what you can carry on the plane. You'll usually find that you and your little one can each have one carry-on and one personal item.

Now that's four bags, and you don't want to be lugging around four bags with your little one, but it's nice to have the option.

You'll also want to see if there is a convenient seat on the plane for you guys to sit in. So for instance, if you're traveling with a baby under two who's flying for free, can you be seated next to an empty seat and maybe take advantage of that free seat.

So before you get on the flight, talk to the gate agent. Maybe there's an empty seat they can put you next to, so you'll have more room to spread out.

And be sure to check the current TSA regulations. You don't want to get stuck at security because you've brought something you can't, or not packaged it appropriately.

Also if you're traveling with a car seat that you're going to check, you don't need to be worried about that being delayed. If the car seat doesn't arrive on time or it's diverted, most airlines will have a backup car seat that you can borrow.

So good luck, and enjoy your trip.
