Hi. I'm Jennifer Durbin, and I have some tips for you on getting your baby to sleep on a plane.
We all get pretty stressed out when we're flying with a baby; worried that they'll have a meltdown, be crying the whole time, and won't be able to sleep. Here's some easy tips for you, to get your little one comfortable enough to fall asleep on the plane.
The first thing you can do is schedule your flight around your baby's nap schedule. If you leave first thing in the morning while they're still tired, there's a good chance they may sleep for a good bit of the flight.
You also want to make sure they're super comfortable. Do things like bring their favorite lovey from home, or even the sheet off of their bed, so they have those nice smells of home. You also might want to consider having some music, or a toy for them to play with.
Make sure you've packed your baby's favorite lovey, or toy, or even the sheet off of their crib. That smell of home can make them feel much more comfortable. And if music helps your little one to sleep, get one of these great little toys that will play music, light up, and they can cuddle.
You can also take a short walk. If your little one is very over-stimulated, and needs to relax, walk up and down the aisle of the plane. Or consider putting your nursing cover on. Holding an over-stimulated infant under a nursing cover can help them to relax and will probably help them to fall asleep, too.
Most importantly, relax. If you're calm and relaxed, baby will be, too.
