Hi. I'm Jennifer Durbin, and I've got some great tips for if you're going to be flying with a little one in your lap.
So the airline calls this "infant in arms" because for children under two, they can usually fly free, which means not that you get a free seat for them, but that they can sit in your lap for free.
Now during the flight there's really nothing to worry about. You want to hold onto them if there's turbulence or things like that, but let them stand up on your lap, let them stand in front of you, let them explore.
But when yo do hit turbulence, or especially during take off and landing, you want to make sure that they're safe. Don't let them stand up during take off and landing. Place them in your lap, have them sit right in front of you so that you can hold them tightly. Consider putting them in a baby carrier. If your little one is comfortable in a Baby Bjorn you may want to wear that, you may feel safer keeping them close to you.
So with those few tips you can keep the baby super safe in your lap and take full advantage of that free flight until they turn two.
