Conventional therapy for testicular cancer generally employs a combination of surgery with a possible use of radiation therapy, and or chemo therapy for the treatment of the condition.
Now these are what we refer to as the conventional medical treatments. Many patients often ask about the possibility of complimentary or alternative therapies for their disease process.
Currently we don't know of any herbal remedies, or alternative therapies such as acupuncture, acupressure which could actually treat or cure testicular cancer. However, there may be utility to some of these alternative therapies during the course of testicular cancer treatment. For example, patients who are on chemotherapy can have nausea, vomiting, pain, various other conditions that exist as a consequence of a complication related to the chemotherapy agent.
And for some of these types of side effects, there can be benefit from utilizing or incorporating some of these alternative medical therapies. There may be herbal remedies that help with nausea , there may be acupuncture, or acupressure that helps with pain.
So, there are alternative treatments that made be employed during the course of testicular cancer treatment. And the best way to find out about these approaches would be to ask your medical oncologist, if you're undergoing chemotherapy, or radiation oncologist if you're undergoing radiation therapy. Or to ask, often cancer centers will have centers for alternative therapy that you can approach. And you can go out and reach out to your own alternative medical therapy centers, and discuss these issues with them to see if there's anything that could potentially benefit you.
But, in general the treatment for testicular cancer still employs the conventional treatment modalities that we've discussed, surgery, radiation, and or chemotherapy.
